CLS and IGT Collaborate for Future-Proof MR Image-Guided Laser Ablation Technology

Thursday, January 18, 2024

Clinical Laserthermia Systems AB (publ) (CLS) has recently entered into a significant agreement with its supplier, Image Guided Therapy AS (IGT). This new agreement grants CLS exclusive rights to IGT's technology for MR-based temperature measurement and control during laser-based tissue ablation.

The move is a crucial element in CLS's technology platform and business strategy, enabling ownership of its entire product portfolio and reinforcing value creation for ongoing product development and commercialization. The collaboration with IGT is pivotal for developing CLS's products for MR-guided laser ablation, with IGT currently providing essential technology and expert resources. The extended cooperation ensures sustained support for CLS's product development and commercialization efforts.

Importantly, IGT's technology is currently employed in the TRANBERG® Thermal Therapy System with Thermoguide Workstation, undergoing clinical evaluation for treating localized prostate cancer at the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in the ClearPoint Prism™ Neuro Laser Therapy System, a product launched in the US for indications such as brain tumors and drug-resistant epilepsy. This system is also part of a clinical study on MR-guided laser ablation (NeuroLITT) for glioblastoma at Skåne University Hospital in Lund.
