Europe Witnesses Inaugural Shoulder Arthroplasty Surgery Employing Stryker's Blueprint® Mixed Reality Guidance System

Thursday, February 29, 2024

Stryker, a prominent figure in medical technologies worldwide, recently announced the successful completion of the first shoulder arthroplasty surgeries utilizing the Blueprint Mixed Reality (MR) Guidance system in Europe. Two hospitals in Europe have proudly embraced Stryker's innovative Mixed Reality Guidance System.

Being among the initial adopters of Stryker's technology, these hospitals are pleased to enhance their surgical procedures tailored to each patient's unique needs and anatomy. The Blueprint Mixed Reality Guidance System, developed in collaboration with leading surgeons, seamlessly integrates Stryker's advanced software with the Microsoft HoloLens 2 headset. This integration enables surgeons to monitor surgical instruments' position and orientation within the physical environment.

The Blueprint Mixed Reality Guidance System equips surgeons with 3D images and guidance widgets, seamlessly integrating them into the surgical workflow without disruption. Surgeons can navigate and visualize surgical instruments with precision, enhancing surgical accuracy and patient outcomes.

With CE marking secured in late 2023, the MR Guidance System made its global surgical debut in December 2023 across the United States and Canada. This milestone highlights the culmination of Blueprint's longstanding presence in Europe and reflects Stryker's dedication to ongoing innovation aimed at optimizing benefits for both surgeons and patients.
