Joimax, a prominent German company specializing in cutting-edge technologies and advanced training methods for full-endoscopic and minimally invasive spinal surgery, has unveiled its latest medical innovation, the iLESSYS Biportal Interlaminar Endoscopic Surgical System. This remarkable system made its global debut at major medical conferences, starting with the EUROSPINE 2023 Annual Meeting in Frankfurt, followed by the SMISS Annual Forum (Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery) in Las Vegas. It is scheduled for its introduction at the upcoming NASS meeting (North American Spine Society) in Los Angeles later this week.
The iLESSYS Biportal Interlaminar Endoscopic Surgical System is notable for its innovative design, which separates the instrument working port from the endoscope, allowing independent movement for increased flexibility. This system comprises a range of specialized tools tailored for biportal spinal endoscopy, including a Triangulation Tool that simplifies access triangulation, working tubes equipped with built-in irrigation outflow control to manage water flow precisely, and larger, more potent instruments for effective tissue ablation and resection.
Medical professionals attending the EUROSPINE event were particularly impressed by the system's versatility, as it accommodates both biportal procedures and bimanual surgical techniques. Furthermore, the iLESSYS system sparked extensive discussions among experts about the strategic choice between the transforaminal (TESSYS) and interlaminar (iLESSYS) approaches for specific spinal conditions.
