NYU Langone Opens Long Island's Largest Ambulatory Care Center in Former Garden City Bloomingdale's

Wednesday, January 31, 2024

NYU Langone Health has expanded its renowned health network with the opening of its largest ambulatory care center on Long Island this month. The former Bloomingdale's and Sears building in Garden City has been transformed into a cutting-edge, 260,000-square foot facility housing 32 clinical specialties. With over 800 staff and doctors ready to serve, the four-story building at 1111 Franklin Avenue is poised to care for an estimated 400,000 patients annually, occupying an entire square block.

NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Garden City boasts 260 patient exam rooms and introduces an expanded adult ophthalmology service. The center reflects NYU Langone's deep commitment to Long Island, providing a wide range of services, including surgical specialties, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, podiatry, pulmonology, rheumatology, radiology, and urology.

Notably, seven of the specialties—cardiology, vascular surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology, and urology—have recently been ranked in the top 10 nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The building's modernist design was renovated with the patient experience in mind, featuring increased natural light through garage wall windows and the addition of an outdoor garden. NYU Langone's expert real estate development and facilities team ensured that every aspect of the facility, both indoors and outdoors, contributes to healing and overall well-being.
