Philips Extends Access to Groundbreaking 3D Intracardiac Echocardiography to Hong Kong

Saturday, May 25, 2024

Royal Philips, a prominent leader in health technology, has unveiled its latest innovation – the real-time 3D Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) catheter, VeriSight Pro – in hospitals across Hong Kong.

This deployment marks the first clinical usage of the VeriSight Pro catheter beyond the borders of the US or Canada, heralding the global introduction of Philips' groundbreaking ICE imaging technology.

Guided through a patient's blood vessels to reside directly within the heart chambers, the VeriSight Pro catheter assists in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, proving particularly effective in planning and executing complex interventional procedures.

Head of Cardiology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong, commended the VeriSight Pro 3D ICE catheter for its superior image quality, enabling visualization of intricate heart structures such as the left atrial appendage or tricuspid valve.

Participating in the international rollout are several hospitals in Hong Kong, including Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, among others, under the expert guidance of Professor Gagan Singh and Dr. Edris Aman, renowned for their pioneering work in intracardiac echocardiography at the University of California Davis Health.

VeriSight Pro boasts superior 2D and 3D live imaging capabilities, facilitating easy navigation during procedures and optimizing the performance of interventional suites. Its utilization reduces the necessity for sedation or general anesthesia, thus expediting workflows, enhancing procedure efficiency, and curtailing procedure times.

The catheter is meticulously designed for seamless integration with Philips' premium ultrasound systems, EPIQ CVx, and EPIQ CVxi.

Chief Business Leader of Precision Diagnosis and Image-Guided Therapy at Philips, underscored the company's commitment to delivering state-of-the-art imaging solutions like VeriSight Pro to bolster procedural confidence, elevate patient outcomes, and establish new benchmarks in global healthcare.

The VeriSight Pro 3D ICE harnesses Philips' cutting-edge xMATRIX array 3D steerable beam ultrasound transducer technology, capturing high-fidelity 2D and 3D live images of the heart, offering a wide 90-degree by 90-degree 3D field of view, and enabling simultaneous viewing of two scan planes for comprehensive assessment.

Philips' Intracardiac Echocardiography Catheter – VeriSight Pro – enriches the company's suite of integrated ultrasound imaging solutions, empowering clinicians with assured navigation and device positioning, ultimately driving down procedure times.
