Zimmer Biomet Teams Up with THINK Surgical to Offer TMINI® Miniature Handheld Robotic System for Total Knee Arthroplasty

Zimmer Biomet Holdings, has recently entered into a significant collaboration with THINK Surgical, Inc. concerning its TMINI Miniature Robotic System for total knee arthroplasty. This partnership will lead to an exclusive offering that integrates Zimmer Biomet's technology with the TMINI robotic solution.

The TMINI system, characterized by its wireless, handheld design, complements Zimmer Biomet's flagship ROSA® Robotics portfolio by facilitating accurate implant placement based on a predetermined CT-based surgical plan.

Expressed pride in the company's distinction as the first medical technology firm to provide two complementary robotic systems for knee replacement procedures.

He highlighted the demand among surgeons for an ergonomic, wireless, handheld robotic system, underscoring Zimmer Biomet's commitment to offering surgeons a range of options to meet the needs of individual patients.

In addition to expanding its ROSA Robotics portfolio with ROSA Shoulder, the world's first robotic surgery system for shoulder replacement, Zimmer Biomet is collaborating with THINK Surgical to introduce a customized TMINI system integrated with its technology.

The strategic importance of the partnership with THINK Surgical in exploring the benefits of a handheld platform, particularly in accelerating the adoption of robotics in orthopedic surgery.

He noted that the TMINI system's design makes it particularly suitable for knee procedures in ambulatory surgery centers and other outpatient settings, suggesting its potential to expand access to advanced surgical technologies.

Zimmer Biomet plans to introduce the customized TMINI System to select U.S. markets in the latter half of 2024.
