Health First Invests $410 Million in New Cape Canaveral Healthcare Facility

Introduction

The new Cape Canaveral Hospital and Medical Office Building on Merritt Island project, which is estimated to cost $410 million, aims to provide modern, expanded healthcare facilities to the local community.

Features

Once completed, the new Cape Canaveral Hospital will span 268,000 square feet and offer a variety of healthcare services. It will feature 120 private inpatient beds, providing patients with more comfort and privacy during their hospital stay.

The hospital’s Emergency Department will be equipped with 25 treatment rooms, designed to accommodate both routine and urgent medical needs. Six fully equipped operating rooms will support a wide range of surgical procedures.

A separate Medical Office Building, spread across three storeys and covering 92,000 square feet, will house outpatient services and specialist practices. This will allow for better integration of patient care across different departments.

Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2026. Following final preparations and safety checks, the new Cape Canaveral Hospital and Medical Office Building is scheduled to open to the public in early 2027.
