South Niagara Hospital Reaches Key Construction Milestone in $3.6 Billion Project

South Niagara Hospital has marked a major milestone in its $3.6 billion construction project with the signing and raising of one of the final structural beams. This highlights the hospital’s progress and the collaborative efforts of government, donors, and the community to deliver a state-of-the-art healthcare facility for Niagara.

The 12-storey South Niagara Hospital is being built at the corner of Montrose and Biggar roads in Niagara Falls, covering 1.3 million square feet.
The hospital will feature 475 single-patient bedrooms, a 24/7 emergency department, eight operating rooms, two MRI machines, and comprehensive services including critical care, diagnostics, surgery, and stroke care.
The Emergency Department will be three times the size of the current Niagara Falls site.
The hospital will increase healthcare capacity, reduce wait times, and strengthen emergency and specialised care in Niagara.
The South Niagara Hospital is expected to open to patients in approximately 2029.
