Guy Giesecke
Memorial Hermann Health System has appointed Dr. Guy B. Giesecke, DHA, as Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
With nearly 20 years of dedicated pediatric leadership, Dr. Giesecke brings deep expertise in driving hospital growth, elevating clinical excellence, and expanding access to specialized care for children and families.
Dr. Giesecke joins Children’s Memorial Hermann after nearly 15 impactful years at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), where he served as CEO of Children’s of Mississippi. Under his leadership, the organization more than doubled its square footage and significantly expanded its network of outpatient specialty clinics - dramatically improving access to essential pediatric services across Mississippi.
Before his tenure at UMMC, Dr. Giesecke held key leadership roles in Texas, including Chief Operating Officer at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas and Vice President at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. His extensive experience in hospital operations, patient safety, and clinical program development has earned him national recognition.
Dr. Giesecke is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a graduate of Leadership Albuquerque. He also serves actively on the Boards of the Children’s Hospital Association and Solutions for Patient Safety, contributing to nationwide initiatives that enhance pediatric care quality and safety.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Abilene Christian University, a master’s in healthcare administration and business from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, and a doctorate in health administration from UMMC’s School of Health-Related Professions. His appointment marks a significant step in advancing Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital’s mission to deliver exceptional pediatric care.
