Thierry Piéton
Medtronic plc, a global leader in healthcare technology, has appointed Thierry Piéton as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Piéton will report directly to Geoff Martha, Medtronic Chairman and CEO, and will serve as a member of the Medtronic Executive Committee.
Piéton joins Medtronic from Renault Group, where he has served as CFO since March 2022. During his tenure, Renault achieved record-high operating margins and improved free cash flow. He also led strategic portfolio initiatives, including targeted acquisitions, divestitures, and funding development via innovative partnerships - delivering substantial value to shareholders.
Bringing over two decades of financial leadership experience across healthcare and other highly regulated, manufacturing-driven industries, Piéton’s background includes key roles at Nissan Motor Co. Ltd, GE, GE Healthcare, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. His ascent to CFO reflects a deliberate path through diverse industries, geographies, and finance functions, positioning him to bring a well-rounded, global perspective to Medtronic.
At Medtronic, Piéton will oversee the company’s global finance organization and lead core supporting functions such as Treasury, Controller, Tax, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, and Business Development.
Gary Corona, who has been serving as interim CFO, will continue in the role until Piéton’s arrival. Afterward, Corona will assume the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance, and remain a part of the Medtronic Executive Committee.
Piéton’s appointment marks a key milestone in Medtronic’s continued focus on financial strength, strategic growth, and long-term value creation.
