David J. Rosa
Intuitive, a global leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery, has announced that Intuitive President David J. Rosa has been appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Rosa joins Intuitive CEO Gary S. Guthart, PhD, as one of two Intuitive executives on the Company’s Board. In his role as president, Rosa oversees Intuitive’s core business operations, while Guthart focuses on enterprise strategy and corporate functions. Together, Rosa and Guthart bring over 50 years of leadership experience at Intuitive.
Rosa was appointed president in May 2023. During his nearly 27-year tenure with Intuitive, he has held key leadership positions across product development, commercial operations, and clinical and regulatory affairs, with over a decade in executive roles. Currently, he manages Intuitive’s business unit, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial operations, and serves as chairman of the board of Intuitive-Fosun, the joint venture with Fosun Pharma based in Shanghai, China.
Gary S. Guthart commented on the appointment, stating, “Intuitive’s Board leadership will greatly benefit from Dave Rosa’s extensive experience across the company, as well as his dedication to excellence in operations, innovation, and customer collaboration. His presence on the Board adds a crucial operational perspective, complementing our strategic focus.”
Rosa holds multiple patents and earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He also serves on the board of Kardium Inc., where he is a member of the compensation committee.
Rosa’s appointment fills a newly created seat, expanding the Intuitive Board from eleven to twelve directors.
