Brooks Rehabilitation Plans $68 Million Expansion to Support Growing Patient Demand

Introduction

Brooks Rehabilitation has announced a major expansion programme valued at around $68 million to respond to rising demand for specialist physical rehabilitation services. The non-profit organisation plans to begin construction in 2026 on three large projects in the Jacksonville area.

Features

The largest project is the expansion of Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital at the Bartram Campus, creating around 150 new jobs and increasing capacity across hospital, outpatient and family accommodation services.

With an investment of $47 million, the hospital will add 48 new inpatient beds, with space planned for future growth.

The expansion will support patients recovering from complex conditions such as brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, transplants and other serious illnesses.

The project also includes a new Innovation Studio, where patients and therapists will use advanced rehabilitation equipment, smart home features and assistive technologies to support recovery and help patients prepare for life at home.

Brooks is also investing approximately $16 million to double the size of Helen’s House, its family and patient accommodation facility near the University campus.

In addition, the Orange Park outpatient clinic will be expanded through a $5.4 million project.
Construction on the three Jacksonville-area projects is scheduled to start in 2026, with completion expected in 2027 and early 2028.
