Corewell Health Invests US$1.7 Billion in Michigan Hospital Expansion
Introduction
Corewell Health is investing US$1.7 billion to expand healthcare capacity in Grand Rapids and Troy, Michigan. The programme includes major developments at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital and Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, adding private patient rooms, modern emergency and surgical facilities and advanced care infrastructure to meet growing regional demand.
Features
The US$1.34 billion Butterworth Hospital project will deliver a new 780,000-square-foot, 11-storey facility on the existing Grand Rapids campus.
It will include a new emergency department, 180 private patient rooms, 17 operating rooms and a hyperbaric chamber.
The project is designed to expand capacity at a hospital that has recorded average occupancy above 90%. In Troy, Corewell Health is investing approximately US$440 million in a new 423,000-square-foot, eight-storey hospital tower at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital.
The tower will provide 180 private patient rooms, a new emergency department waiting area and improved connections across the campus.
Rooms will support care ranging from general treatment to intensive care and will include advanced technology.
Direct access between the parking deck and emergency department will also improve patient and family navigation.
Additional healthcare developments are planned in Oxford and Sterling Heights as part of Corewell Health’s wider regional expansion programme.
