Groundbreaking Ceremony Commences for the Moncton Hospital's New $56 Million Two-Story Coronary Care Unit

Introduction:

Construction is now underway for a new Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Horizon's The Moncton Hospital. This development will greatly enhance cardiac care services for patients throughout the region.

Features:

The upcoming Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Horizon's The Moncton Hospital will consist of eight coronary care beds and a 30-bed cardiac/medical unit.

It is intended to improve healthcare services for residents in the New Brunswick region dealing with various heart-related ailments.

This investment aligns with the government's endeavors to enhance the healthcare system.

Additionally, it will expedite the transfer of certain patients from the Heart Centre in Saint John to the Moncton CCU.

The CCU is slated to be a two-story extension situated on the hospital premises close to the Dr. Sheldon H. Rubin Oncology Clinic on Arden Street.

This expansion will add approximately 2,600 square meters (almost 28,000 square feet) of space to the hospital's infrastructure

Furthermore, the CCU marks the integration and expansion of two existing cardiac units within the hospital, namely the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the cardiac/medical unit.

In the new CCU, these units will be positioned next to each other, streamlining the delivery of patient-centered care in a contemporary work setting.

The facility will also provide increased comfort, featuring numerous private rooms for cardiac patients and their families.

This will result in an enhanced patient experience, encompassing greater comfort, safety, and privacy.

The construction is anticipated to conclude around June 2026.
