HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Invests $50M in New Surgical Center Expansion

Introduction

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is moving ahead with a new healthcare development in Southwestern Illinois, supported by a planned investment of approximately 50 million. The project received approval through the Illinois Certificate of Need process and is part of the hospital’s continued effort to improve access to local medical services.

Features

A new three-storey building will be constructed on the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital campus. The facility will cover around 70,000 square feet.

The development includes an outpatient surgical unit with four operating theatres, two procedure rooms, and areas for patient preparation, recovery, and post-acute care.

The new building will also house space for physician-led clinics, additional providers, and diagnostic imaging services.

The expansion is aimed at improving access to high-quality care for patients in the region by providing more services closer to home.

Construction is set to begin in the coming weeks, with the project scheduled for completion in spring 2027.
