Intermountain St. Vincent Breaks Ground on $1B Replacement Hospital Facility in Billings
Introduction:
Intermountain St. Vincent Regional Hospital has officially started construction on a new 14-storey, 737,000 square-foot facility in Billings, Montana.
Features:
The new hospital will include 243 patient beds, with space for 16 more. Each room is designed to be universal, allowing for conversion to intensive care if required. The surgical areas will feature flexible, technology-ready operating rooms and streamlined layouts for pre-op, surgery, and recovery.
Decentralised nursing stations will bring caregivers closer to patients, while natural light and views aim to enhance healing.
Public and emergency entrances will be separated for privacy and efficiency. The first floor will serve as a dedicated public space, with amenities such as a chapel, outpatient pharmacy, gift shop, and discharge lounge. Separate lifts and entrances for staff, patients, and visitors will promote a calm environment.
The project supports modern healthcare delivery, future technological advancements, and emergency preparedness, with construction expected to generate up to 1,200 jobs.
A further 500 local jobs will be created to support the project, adding to Intermountain Health’s strong economic impact in the region.
The project is expected to be completed by 2029.
