Massachusetts General Hospital Secures $100 Million Gift from New Balance for New Cardiovascular Tower Construction
Introduction:
Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), part of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system, has received a landmark US$100 million donation from the New Balance Foundation. The contribution will fund the construction of the West Tower of the Phillip and Susan Ragon Building, a major centre for advanced cardiovascular and community health services. In recognition of this historic gift, the new facility will be named the New Balance Foundation Tower.
Features:
The New Balance Foundation Tower will cover nearly one million square feet and form part of MGH’s expanded heart and vascular care network.
The development aims to set new standards in patient experience, clinical innovation, and sustainability. Key features will include a state-of-the-art cardiac procedural platform, a short-stay unit, and five inpatient floors with 32 cardiac intensive care beds and 190 acute care beds.
The facility will also house 482 private inpatient rooms across both the East and West towers, a 300-seat conference auditorium, rooftop and healing gardens designed for recovery, and four underground parking levels.
A pedestrian connector will link the Ragon Building to the wider hospital campus for seamless access.
Construction of the New Balance Foundation Tower is set to begin in 2027, with completion and patient services expected to commence in 2030.
