Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital Marks Major Milestone with Its $167M Expansion
Introduction
Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital has reached another key point in its major expansion project with the forthcoming launch of its enlarged Emergency Centre and Surgical Department. A ribbon-cutting event and open house were held to recognise the development and continued investment in healthcare services for the Katy community.
Features
The $167 million expansion has doubled the Emergency Centre to 40,000 sq ft, adding new treatment rooms, two trauma rooms, an extra CT scanner and upgraded equipment.
Three new operating theatres have been built with space for three more. The hospital aims to progress from Level III to Level II Trauma Centre status.
Completed upgrades include a 40-bed adult Intermediate Care Unit, the area’s only Paediatric IMU, a 40-bed medical/surgical unit, a parking garage with almost 700 spaces, Medical Plaza III for physician offices and enhanced paediatric services, an expanded nursery with neonatal intensive care rooms, and improvements to the cardiac catheterisation lab and food services.
Further enhancements are planned for Women’s Services, including more obstetric emergency rooms, additional labour and delivery rooms and a dedicated caesarean section suite.
