Memorial Hermann Katy Invests US$167 million in Multiple Projects in USA

Introduction:

Memorial Hermann Katy is investing US$167 million in the construction of multiple projects in USA.

Features:

The project includes the construction of a third medical plaza, a parking structure, and the expansion of the Emergency Center and Operating Room (OR).

Additionally, a new 40-bed medical/surgical acute care unit will be available, increasing the hospital's total bed count to 254.
The parking structure, scheduled for completion in 2024, will provide over 600 additional parking spaces on the west side of the campus. Medical Plaza III will also be completed in 2025, offering clinical office space for affiliated physicians.

Expansion Phases:

Phase I involves expanding the Katy area's only Level III trauma center, the Emergency Center, to 40,000 square feet. This expansion includes more treatment rooms, including two state-of-the-art trauma rooms, additional space for CT scanners, enhanced equipment, and more.

Phase II will focus on renovating the existing Emergency Center and adding two operating rooms, with the potential for four more in the future. Both phases are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

New Medical/Surgical Acute Care Unit:

A new 40-bed medical/surgical acute care unit, named 6 East, has recently been inaugurated on the sixth floor of the East Tower. It is designed to cater to diverse patients, including those in post-operative recovery or experiencing severe illnesses.

Immediate Care Unit (IMU):

Construction is underway on the fifth floor of the East Tower to establish a 40-bed Immediate Care Unit (IMU). The IMU will offer an intermediate level of care between critical care and a standard IMU. It is anticipated to open later this year, increasing the hospital's overall bed capacity to approximately 300 beds.

Other Initiatives:

In addition to the aforementioned projects, several other initiatives are in progress or scheduled to commence shortly. These include the relocation of the nursery, tripling the number of obstetrical emergency rooms, expanding Women's Services to incorporate labor and delivery rooms, a cesarean section suite, and four neonatal intensive care unit rooms. Furthermore, expansion plans encompass the cardiac catheterization lab, food service areas, the Rockets Sports Medicine Institute at Memorial Hermann Sports Park-Katy, and the Memorial Hermann Breast Care Centre. These endeavors aim to enhance the hospital's capabilities and accommodate the evolving needs of its patients.
