Nepean Hospital Stage 2 Redevelopment Hits New Heights with $1 Billion Investment
Introduction:
The Stage 2 redevelopment of Nepean Hospital has marked a major construction milestone with the topping out of the new clinical building. The redevelopment, valued at over $1 billion, aims to expand and upgrade health services for the Nepean and Blue Mountains communities.
Features:
The new hospital building will feature a new adult intensive care unit and additional inpatient beds, along with expanded medical imaging and nuclear medicine services.
It will include clinical support services such as pharmacy and in-centre renal dialysis, as well as dedicated staff education and training facilities.
A new main entry will provide seamless access to the existing 14-storey hospital tower from Stage 1. The building will also house an Aboriginal Mudyin (Family) Centre, the first of its kind in the District, offering a culturally safe space for Aboriginal patients and families.
The design has been shaped through extensive consultation with hospital staff and the local community to ensure the facility meets the future health needs of the region.
With the concrete structure now complete, work will continue on internal fit-out, services installation, and building exterior.
The construction is expected to be open by late 2026.
