St. Luke’s US$252 Million Cardiovascular Facility Expansion
Introduction
St. Luke’s University Health Network is set to open its new Heart Hospital at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus in October 2026. With an investment of US$252 million, the project is the largest construction programme in St. Luke’s more than 150-year history by both cost and size. The new facility is designed to expand cardiovascular care and increase access to advanced heart services across the region.
Key Features
The five-storey Heart Hospital covers approximately 355,000 square feet and adds 140 beds, nearly doubling the size of the Anderson Campus.
The facility includes four dedicated heart operating rooms and one hybrid operating room, along with 10 advanced interventional suites supporting cardiac catheterisation, electrophysiology and interventional radiology.
A specialised cardiac intensive care unit will provide high-acuity patients with advanced cardiovascular treatment.
The hospital will also feature modern imaging systems, heart-lung machines for complex open-heart procedures and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) technology for patients requiring long-term heart and lung support.
The facility has been designed to improve clinical workflows and patient movement.
Internal service corridors will allow staff to access supplies without disrupting patient areas. Other campus improvements include a rooftop helipad and a larger cafeteria.
The Heart Hospital will also support medical education through expanded teaching areas and a new cardiac fellowship programme, strengthening St. Luke’s focus on clinical training and innovation.
