UCLA Health Receives $100 Million Donation to Expand Mental Health Campus in Los Angeles
Introduction
UCLA Health has announced a $100 million philanthropic donation from business leaders and philanthropists Stewart Resnick and Lynda Resnick to expand mental and behavioural health services in Los Angeles.
Features
The project will significantly expand the neuropsychiatric hospital’s capacity and services. The facility will grow by 61 per cent, increasing the number of beds from 74 to 119.
A new 20-bed crisis stabilisation unit will also be introduced to diagnose and stabilise patients experiencing acute behavioural health emergencies.
Several outpatient programmes for both adults and children will be relocated to a medical office building next to the hospital, allowing patients to access a wider range of services in one location.
The campus will also include community mental health resources and landscaped outdoor spaces with gardens and trees to create a calming and supportive environment for patients and their families.
The new neuropsychiatric hospital is expected to open in autumn, while the upgraded medical office building is scheduled for completion in 2026.
