Uganda to Build $73m State-of-the-Art Cardiac Hospital in Naguru
Introduction
A new 10-level cardiac hospital is being construction in Naguru to provide advanced heart care, training and research. The project, valued at USD 73 million, is being developed on a 10-acre site.
Features
The Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) Hospital will be a specialised facility with 250 beds, including 40 intensive care beds. It will consist of three main blocks: a Clinical Block, an Administrative Block and an Accommodation Block for medical staff.
The complex will host modern medical services such as three operating theatres, two catheterisation laboratories, an outpatient department, consultation rooms, as well as separate wards for adult males, females and children.
It will also feature an emergency unit, physiotherapy unit, advanced imaging and laboratory services. In addition, it will provide training and research facilities to strengthen academic and clinical work, together with supporting infrastructure such as a kitchen, central sterilisation and services department, and laundry. Other provisions include a farewell home and special VIP and VVIP units.
The project is expected to be completed by early 2027.
