UnityPoint Health Commits $6 Million to Enhance Hospital Campus in Muscatine, Enabling Rural Health Clinic Renovations and Improved Access

Introduction:

The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine and UnityPoint Health® - Trinity Muscatine Join Hands to Begin Construction on Three-Floor UnityPoint Clinic® Mulberry

Features:

The project aims to improve access to healthcare services for the community, ensuring equitable care for all residents.

The current clinic will continue to operate during the construction period, with patients entering through the Trinity Muscatine hospital main entrance.

The expansion will increase the clinic's footprint from 30,000 square feet to 42,000 square feet, allowing for future growth and the inclusion of multi-use spaces for services like telehealth, primary care, behavioral health, and community health.

The clinic will follow a medical home model, with providers working in pods in open areas, facilitating better monitoring and communication among care team members.

Initially, the clinic will offer Pediatrics, Gynecology, Family Medicine, Surgery, and Internal Medicine. The updated building will enhance convenience, efficiency, and accommodate a growing number of providers.

The proximity to the hospital enables easy access and collaborative care between the clinic and hospital services, including lab, radiology, and inpatient care.

Construction is expected to last 18 months, with a target completion date in Fall 2024.
