Victorian Government Invests $900 Million in New Melton Hospital

Introduction

The Victorian Government has allocated more than over $900 million for the development of a new hospital in Melton. This major project aims to meet the healthcare needs of rapidly growing communities in Melbourne’s western corridor, including Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, and Gisborne.

Key Features

Once complete, the hospital will offer a 24-hour emergency department, at least 274 inpatient beds, and an intensive care unit.

It will also provide maternity and neonatal care, mental health services, radiology, and ambulatory care facilities.

The hospital will be capable of treating around 130,000 patients annually, including almost 60,000 emergency department presentations each year.

Construction is progressing on schedule, with the new Melton Hospital expected to open its doors to patients in 2029.
