Wellstar Paulding Medical Center Begins $300 Million Facility Expansion

Introduction:

Wellstar Paulding Medical Center has officially begun a $300 million expansion project aimed at doubling the hospital’s inpatient capacity and enhancing healthcare resources for one of Georgia’s fastest-growing regions.

Features:    

Currently, the hospital operates 112 beds and a busy emergency department with 40 adult and paediatric bays, and it is nearing full capacity. 

The new hospital tower will be built in two phases. The first phase will add 56 beds, expand heart and vascular services, and increase imaging capacity. 

The second phase will add a further 56 beds, completing the doubling of inpatient capacity. A $20 million parking deck with more than 460 spaces to improve access for patients and visitors.

In recent years, Wellstar has expanded across Paulding County, adding 69 exam rooms across seven practices to provide more convenient care and reduce pressure on the hospital. 

The first phase, scheduled to open in November 2027, and the second phase is expected in 2029.
