CalmWave’s First of Its Kind Solution to Support Patient Safety & Efficiency

CalmWave, known for its Calm ICU™ platform, has introduced a new clinical engineering solution called Alarm Insights.

The system provides hospitals with real-time oversight of technical alarms from bedside monitoring devices, aiming to improve equipment management, operational performance and patient safety.

Clinical engineering teams are responsible for ensuring that critical medical devices function correctly. However, many hospitals lack detailed visibility into alarm behaviour and device status.

Alarm Insights addresses this issue by identifying problems such as repeated faults, high alarm volumes, sensor issues and device performance decline. Teams can review alarm patterns at the level of individual beds, hospital units or across entire facilities.

The software enables earlier intervention before equipment failures occur and helps reduce unnecessary alarms that can distract staff and delay responses.

It also links alarm activity to patient and location context, allowing priority to be given to higher-risk situations. The platform works across different device manufacturers and connects with electronic health record systems.

Alarm Insights uses CalmWave’s Transparent AI approach to ensure insights are clear and traceable.
The company reports that the technology has already helped significantly cut non-actionable alarms in intensive care units, improving staff workflow and confidence in monitoring equipment.

The launch aims to shift clinical engineering from a reactive model to proactive planning, supporting smoother hospital operations and better outcomes for patients.
