Outlook Surgical’s Hybrid Endoscope Receives FDA Breakthrough Status

Outlook Surgical has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Inova 1 Towerless Endoscope System, marking a major step forward in surgical imaging.

The new device combines the benefits of both rigid and flexible endoscopes in a single, streamlined platform.

For many years, surgeons have depended on either rigid or flexible scopes, each with clear disadvantages.

Rigid scopes offer precision but limited movement, while flexible scopes allow greater reach but often require two-handed operation.

The Inova 1 Hybrid Endoscope eliminates these challenges by providing one-handed control, high-definition imaging, and improved efficiency during surgical procedures.

Designed primarily for head and neck surgeries, particularly in ENT and related specialities, the system allows surgical instruments to attach directly to the scope, keeping the working tool constantly in view.

Its compact, towerless design removes the need for bulky external cameras, light sources, or towers, making it lightweight, portable, and easy to integrate into clinical settings.

The hybrid design offers stability and mobility, while single-handed operation simplifies workflow. High-definition imaging can be displayed on any HDMI monitor or wirelessly without an internet connection.

Clinical trials show strong surgeon support, with improved handling and efficiency. Outlook Surgical plans to launch the system in early 2026, with future applications across multiple specialities.
