Zavation Medical Introduces Breakthrough NanoPrime™ Hybrid Interbody Technology
Zavation Medical Products has introduced NanoPrime™, a new spinal implant material that blends the advantages of both PEEK and titanium in one structure.
The company is recognised for its innovation in spinal devices and aims to improve surgical performance by combining PEEK’s flexibility with the biological benefits associated with titanium surfaces.
NanoPrime™ is created using an advanced nano-engineering technique that involves evaporation and ion beam bombardment in a controlled vacuum.
This highly specialised process forms a strong and durable bond between the titanium coating and the PEEK base, lowering the possibility of the coating detaching over time.
The outcome is a surface engineered to support long-term stability while maintaining strong structural qualities.
The first product to feature this new technology will be Zavation’s Varisync® ALIF interbody system. NanoPrime™ will also be used as a wider platform across the Labyrinth® Porous PEEK range.
By combining porosity, PEEK’s modulus of elasticity and titanium’s support for bone formation, the material aims to provide a more natural environment for bone integration.
Its nanoscale surface features are intended to promote cell activity linked to new bone growth, while enhanced imaging compatibility helps clinicians monitor progress after surgery.
With this development, Zavation continues to focus on improved spinal implant design and better clinical outcomes for patients.
