Sarah van Hellenberg Hubar-Fisher
Bioretec Ltd., a pioneer in absorbable orthopedic implants, has appointed Sarah van Hellenberg Hubar-Fisher as Chief Executive Officer.
She has served as interim CEO since May 2025 and as a member of the company’s Board of Directors since 2021. With this transition, van Hellenberg Hubar-Fisher steps down from her roles as Vice Chairperson of the Board, Audit Committee member, and Director. The Board of Directors has elected Antti Vasara as the new Vice Chairman and member of the Audit Committee.
Van Hellenberg Hubar-Fisher brings more than 23 years of leadership experience in healthcare, medical technology, and global public health. She has built a reputation for transforming innovative technologies into real-world clinical outcomes, driving new ventures, advancing capital solutions, and expanding business development across international markets.
At Bioretec, she will focus on strengthening the company’s commercial footprint following significant regulatory milestones.
Her career includes senior leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson, where she drove global healthcare initiatives, and roles as Venture Partner at Nina Capital (Spain) and Growth Science Ventures (U.S.). She also serves on the Board of Global Surgical Initiatives, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding sustainable surgical care in underserved communities.
