John Doherty

Butterfly Network, Inc., a pioneering digital health company transforming medical imaging through handheld, whole-body ultrasound and intelligent software, has appointed John Doherty as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Doherty brings over 25 years of global financial leadership experience, having guided both public and private companies through transformative growth, strategic transactions, and organizational evolution across the technology and telecommunications sectors.

Before joining Butterfly, Doherty served as CFO at Kaltura, a global leader in video SaaS solutions, where he oversaw strategic, financial, and corporate development initiatives. Before that, he held the dual role of Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Magic Leap, securing over US$1 billion in financing and leading a major recapitalization effort that repositioned the company toward the enterprise augmented reality market.

Earlier in his career, Doherty served as CFO of InterXion Holding N.V., where he drove more than 60% growth in revenue and EBITDA, managed a US$320 million equity offering, and played a key role in the company’s US$8 billion merger with Digital Realty Trust. His three-decade tenure at Verizon Communications culminated in his roles as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and President & Chief Investment Officer of Verizon Ventures, where he led over US$100 billion in strategic transactions and investments that shaped Verizon’s leadership in IoT, digital media, and telematics.

Following Doherty’s appointment, Megan Carlson, who has served as Interim CFO, will resume her responsibilities as Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance & Accounting, continuing to serve as Butterfly’s principal accounting officer.
