Eric Knudsen
ZOLL Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei company that develops medical devices and software solutions, has appointed Eric Knudsen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Knudsen will succeed Jon Rennert, who has served as CEO for the past decade and will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of ZOLL’s Board of Directors.
Knudsen brings nearly 30 years of experience in the medical technology industry, with significant expertise in business development, corporate strategy, and growth initiatives. During his tenure at ZOLL, he led the company’s Corporate Development team for six years, where he played a key role in building strategic partnerships and acquiring more than a dozen innovative technologies to expand the company’s product portfolio.
Over the past four years, Knudsen served as President of ZOLL Itamar, a division focused on the diagnosis of sleep disorders. Under his leadership, the business achieved strong growth and significantly improved profitability, strengthening ZOLL’s position in sleep health diagnostics.
Before joining ZOLL in 2013, Knudsen held leadership roles in international sales, marketing, and manufacturing partnerships at several healthcare companies, including Covidien (now part of Medtronic), Aspect Medical Systems, and LeMaitre Vascular.
Rennert, who became CEO in 2016 after serving as President of ZOLL’s largest business unit for eight years, played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s global leadership in external defibrillation and advancing innovative solutions for patients with serious cardiopulmonary and respiratory conditions. During his tenure, ZOLL significantly broadened its global product portfolio and strengthened its position in critical care technologies.
