Dr. Euan Ashley
DexCom, Inc., the global leader in glucose biosensing technology, has appointed Dr. Euan Ashley to its Board of Directors.
A distinguished clinician, researcher, and entrepreneur, Dr. Ashley brings decades of leadership experience across precision medicine, data science, AI, and digital health - expertise that will further strengthen Dexcom’s strategic direction in advancing next-generation medical technologies.
Dr. Ashley currently serves as Chair of the Department of Medicine at Stanford University, leading its largest division, which comprises more than 800 faculty members across 15 specialties. Since joining Stanford in 2006, he has held numerous influential roles, including Associate Dean, Professor of Medicine, Genetics, and Biomedical Data Science, and Co-Director of Stanford Medicine Catalyst. This innovation-translation program accelerates the university’s most promising biomedical breakthroughs. He also founded Stanford’s Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease in 2009, and it’s Clinical Genomics Program in 2014, both of which have shaped national standards in precision health.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Dr. Ashley has co-founded seven biotechnology companies, including Personalis Inc. ($PSNL), Deepcell Inc., Svexa, Saturnus Bio, and Swift Bio, reflecting his commitment to pioneering solutions in genomics, AI, and human performance. Since 2020, he has also served on the Board of Directors of AstraZeneca Plc, contributing to global pharmaceutical innovation.
Dr. Ashley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiology and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Glasgow, as well as a PhD from the University of Oxford. He completed his cardiology training at Stanford University. His appointment brings a powerful clinical and scientific perspective to Dexcom as it continues to expand the impact of real-time glucose monitoring worldwide.
