Blackbird Health has appointed Dr. Michael Tang, MD, MBA, as its Chief Medical Officer.

He succeeds Dr. Nicole Garber, who is stepping down to further focus on her longstanding work in the field of eating disorders. The organization acknowledged her contributions and clinical leadership during her tenure.

Dr. Tang is a highly accomplished physician with quadruple board certifications in child psychiatry, adult psychiatry, pediatrics, and addiction medicine. He brings a strong commitment to improving care delivery for children and families, particularly in behavioral health.

He joins Blackbird Health from Cityblock Health, a national value-based care organization, where he served as Vice President of Integrated Care and Head of Behavioral Health. In these roles, he led initiatives across quality, population health, clinical design, and informatics, while advancing scalable behavioral health programs aimed at improving access and patient outcomes.

Prior to this, Dr. Tang was Chief Behavioral Health Officer at The Dimock Center in Boston and also served as Boston Site Director for Health Leads, a nonprofit focused on addressing social determinants of health. His experience spans both clinical leadership and community-based care delivery.

Dr. Tang completed his pediatrics residency at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center, followed by residency and fellowship training in adult and child psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. He holds degrees from Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, and the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.

His appointment underscores Blackbird Health’s commitment to advancing integrated, high-quality behavioral healthcare.
